Walsall Scare Maze 2025:The Cage and ENOLA

Our Slasher Review

On the 19th of October we headed back to Walsall Scare Maze for their annual Halloween event. Over the years the attraction has seen many different incarnations, but The Cage on first visual as you walk through the entrance is possibly the most imposing to date. We always go back to Walsall Scare Maze year after year for their ability to but on one of the best shows in the country and although it is one attraction and the ENOLA 18+ Scare experience, its powerhouse mix of amazing sets and unrivaled cast members set it batting with the scream parks. This time round under the guise of The Cage, the main maze follows a prison setting with some of the most crazed inmates we have seen from this theme so far. ENOLA has upped the their game too providing an experience you are not likely to easily forget. We are so proud of what the creatives have produced this year and of the respective casts in both attractions. This year also sees a death defying act known as Mamma Red who really knows how to make you want to look away while also captivating you enough that you cant in equal measure. This was a great addition to the Walsall Scare Maze experience. The event also features a shock chair challenge too. Walsall Scare Maze might operate on a limited footprint, but don't think you wont have a fully thought out night of screams, laughs and even intimidation. Walsall Scare Maze is the full package. Top Tips-Arrive early so you can get in line for the main attraction, we recommend 15 minutes before your time slot Things that bite-We try every year to really split hairs with this attraction to critique it, but we just can't every run has been fantastic and we can't find any way to improve. Value for Money-Absolutely value for money, we each paid £20 plus £2.50 booking fee and £17.50 plus £2.50 booking fee for ENOLA. Scare Rating-5/5 The Cage 5/5 ENOLA Do we recommend-We come back every event, so that is a YES from us. Our Stalker Review

It was on a cold autumn night in 2025 when the falling of torrential rain marked our arrival at one of our most anticipated events of the season. Walsall Scare Maze's NEW for 2025 Event that was simply named The Cage but words can be deceiving and The Cage is anything but simple for even the entrance to the event has been changed up to make the Cage possible, gone is the entrance into the familiar dance floor of The Lion bar where you would queue up, No this time they have gone big with a full intimidating and imposing façade that took us all by surprise, it was at this point that realised Walsall Scare Maze wasn't doing anything like the previous Haunting of Amelia Birchill. As the rain hammered down just adding to the atmosphere it was time to line up and face our fate.

The story of The Cage takes us to a run down prison (which sadly I can't remember the name of) where the inmates had become crazed and mutated by the prison doctors and the infamous surgeon Viktor Graft, but that is not all the prison also holds a darker secret , a death game transmitted across the dark web in an area only known as The Cage, possibly the only thing funding the prison, and we hopefully on our tour won't be mistaken as new inmates other wise our fate will lay in the infamous Cage itself. On to the actual attraction, after a short wait in the thankfully covered queue line, we entered into the facility itself, a dark area, dimly lit with flickering lights signifying that this place had seen better days, behind the desk folders of inmates lie littered around. Before long in the opening scene it was time to meet one of the Wardens of the prison who played this role with absolute perfection, moving guests around the line up, taunting and teasing us clearly making sure that we knew we wasn't as welcome as we might have thought. Now unlike our past reviews we are going to make this one slightly spoiler free just because some scenes are going to be best experienced blind, all we will say with usual prison manner the sound of a siren indicated we was no longer safe. The narrative of the story pushed even deeper as we meet I think one of the doctors of the prison, again played to perfection. One thing we did notice that made is all feel on edge is that there were files on the walls which sounds normal enough and then we realised why it felt so eerie, we were on the files! Photos and all , or should we say mugshots. It was at this point we felt less like guests and more like new inmates. This story soon went even further as we met (should we remember correctly) the infamous surgeon Viktor Graft himself. Clearly insane and very open to showing us just what he could do with various body parts, this scene was absolutely fantastic and added a sense of gross out mixed with a healthy dose of anticipation. The scene feels like something out of a Dungeons production which is exceptional praise indeed and should you go through it you will understand what we mean, the room has some fantastic visual and audio cues that really bring the scene to life. But this tour was about to take a turn for the worst when the inmates of the prison became aware of our presence and all hell broke loose, navigating the dank rooms and claustrophobic corridors of the prison with some absolutely crazy inmates screaming for our blood, skin and whatever else they could get their hands on, each inmate character was played down to absolute perfection and it has to be mentioned their energy was insane, you heard them before you saw most , but this just added to the trepidation of the attraction, banging trays, cornering you at any chance given, this cast like so many before them didn't let up and landed some fantastic scares along the way, it was absolute chaos in the best possible form and such a juxtaposition from the more dread filled long burn style of the former Haunting of Amelia Birchill, and to add you if you had visited in past years you would never tell that this was the same location as the mazes that came before it. As the mental assault on the sense ensued we found ourselves trapped in a dark room, with no way out but the way we came in, then another Warden( Who gave an absolutely chilling performance) appeared this time more uncaring of who we were and why we were there , they had other plans for us and that was where The Cage itself comes in, the tension built in the room had everyone on edge to the point that there was a genuine atmosphere of fear in the air, an audio piece told us of our fate, we were destined for The Cage, to enter the game itself and try and basically not die trying to escape, and this would all be streamed live into the dark web for their rich donors to enjoy. With final words of the audio track and some other effects it was time to enter The Cage! The door ahead opened into a room of aggressive heavy music and intense smoke and strobes, visibility was very low, but we were now in the game and the inmates with in were more than happy to make our acquaintance, this strobe maze was honestly one of the most intense cage mazes we have ever done, a literal maze with cast members using every opportunity possible to terrorize and chase even though it can't have been easy to work the space, but they did and did so with perfection, timing and some great sustained scares along side, distraction and impact. They did the lot and it just added to the absolute madness of the whole scene, after what seemed like looping the area twice we found an exit out of the strobes and away from the chaos within, we had just escaped The Cage! Left out of breath, exiting applauding another exemplary show by the Walsall Scare Maze team, once again they had come back bigger and better and absolutely smashing the attraction out of the park. After a small moment of composure it was time to watch the new show by Mamma Red. Now I'm not going into detail but lets just say this show had us fearing to see what we were watching. From experimenting with hammer and nail to a literal bed of nails, and believe we they were sharp from when Mamma Red got someone to throw an apple at the bed , it was evident there really was a level of danger in her feats. This added addition was fantastic to see and we hope that Mamma Red becomes a resident name at Walsall for the future to come.

Now it was time for ENOLA, The 18+ extreme scare experience, this time round it was my (Dan) 4th time in the ENOLA clinic and Dane's 2nd. Now we always say this and it really bares repeating but we will say it every time, ENOLA is not a scare maze neither should it be treated like one, It is an immersive horror experience designed to test your limits and push you past what you think you can endure. ENOLA is not for everyone and neither will it be , but if you are looking for an experience that will really make you go WTF just happened to me, then this might be what you are looking for. During your experience you will be given 2 options of safe words, MERCY will end a particular task you are doing but will not end the full experience, "I'm a p*ssy get me out of here!" will end your experience fully and will have you safely removed from the attraction. But if you are like me and get very competitive with yourself, you won't want to safe word, and while the attraction will change you if you complete every task and scene , the feeling coming out knowing you've not safe worded is fantastic.

Now I will not go into detail of what each room contains but rest assured there are quite a few scenes and if you a looking for something that will be over and done with in a flash, ENOLA won't be for you , right down to the very first interaction the experience begins. From the point of scanning your ticket, to entering the clinic and so on, this is a fully immersive experience. We can say that "due to the board outside" it's no secret that you will face water effects, electric, eating challenges, potential of being shaved and much more. The experience should you not safe word is around 15/20 minutes long. For us on the night we attended we can say that even from the reception scene this is was an intense experience, being made to shout "I'm an Fing Pervert" out of the door minutes before hitting the first actual scene, this was a great beginning to the attraction and one part like all the others I will not forget in a hurry. Every scene from the check in to the finale was a full attack on the mind , body and senses of what the F just happened, exiting with just a bin bag to hide our modesty, and rest assured 4 appointments in now I thought nothing could shock me, but ENOLA is the gift that keeps on giving, season after season. Every cast member needs a huge congratulations because what you do is not easy and you all play your respective roles with absolute professionalism and perfection, allowing chaos to unfold while keeping the guest experience safe while utterly terrorizing them in every scene.
