Halloween 2021 - What We Know So Far - Part 1 - The South

Every year we try to bring a couple of blog posts with everything that has been announced for this year's Halloween season in the UK, and this year is no exception. This year the blogs will be split into 4 covering the South, the Midlands, the North and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There’s a lot to get through so shall we get part 1 started. South West and South


Scream Aloud announced early on that they were planning to open in 2021. Offering three mazes in Fun House, Ward 13 and Nocturnal as well as a bar and entertainment marquee. Located near Lyndhurst, the event will run for just 4 nights from the 28th October - 31st October Tickets are £19.99 plus a booking fee. Fear at Avon Valley near Bristol will be opening for 10 nights in total. Returning attractions from 2019 are X4, Vita Nova, House of Clowns and Anarchy: Live. They have teased the addition of a new attraction but it is currently unknown what this attraction will be. The event will run 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 26th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st October. Frightmare at Over Farm near Gloucester have announced they are returning. The event will run for just 8 nights from 15th - 31st October. It looks like the maze line up will remain the same as 2019 with Carvinal, Haunted Hayride, Caged, Wonderland, The Offering and Seance. The event will run for nine nights throughout October. Fordingbridge Halloween Maze in Hampshire will be offering a spooky treat to guests as they open their maize maze in the evening for adults brave enough to visit. We beleive this event won't have any actors and will just be a walk through the maize maze at night experience. Dartmoor Zoo have confirmed that Boo in the Zoo will be returning this year. Running on the 29th and 30th of October between 5:30pm and 9pm the event offers 5 different experiences, some of which aren't scary. these are the Lights Trail, Woodland Spook Maze, Dark Maze, Fern Hanging Garden and Creepy Reptile House. Survival Zone have announced the name of the attraction they will be offering this Halloween. Sanctuary will be the attraction they will be hosting at their new venue in Wareham in Dorset. The event will run from the 21st - 31st October. They offer two versions of the attraction with the standard experience costing £25 (Plus booking fee) and the Ultimate experience osting £35 (Plus booking fee). Zombie Nightmare will be coming to The Brunel in Swindon this year. You will have 60 minutes to escape from zombies in a real working shopping centre. Shepton Mallet Prison will once again be hosting an event for the Halloween season. In a team up, Immersive Events and Zombie Infection have come together to create 3 experiences all in one place and all included in one ticket. The attractions on offer at this event will be Turf Wars, Zombie Town and Locked in a Box. The event will run for 8 nights from 21st October. Tickets start from £59.00. Park of the Dead will be returning this year with Quaratine. Located at Puckpool Park on the Isle of Wight, the event will run for four nights from the 28th - 31st October. Tickets cost £20.00. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Park of the Dead website.


The Project is a new scare maze coming to Tapnell Farm on the Isle of Wight this year. The maze will run on the 2nd, 23rd and 25th - 31st October. Tickets cost £15.00 or £12.00 for pass holders and will include entry to The Project plus Headphone Horrors Halloween movie reel. A Nghtmare on Havenstreet will be coming to Haven Falconry on the Isle of wight this october. The event will run for 3 nights on the 27th, 28th and 29th October. Tickets cost £18.00. For more infomration and to book tickets you can visit the Haven Falconry website.


London and South East


Tulleys Shocktoberfest near Crawley will be celebrating its 25th birthday this year. The line up currently remains nearly the same as 2019 with Wastelands Penitentiary, Twisted Clowns, The Village Coven of 13, The Chop Shop, The Cellar Imprisoned, Hell-ements, The Creepy Cottage and The Horrorwood Hayride. Also returning will be The Circus of Horrors. A new attraction called The Island is set to replace The Wreckoning. The event runs for a whopping 24 nights throughout October. They have a new ticketing system in place for this year. Tickets start from £14.00 (Including booking fee) for a street pass and £37.00 for a basic maze ticket (including booking fee). Kent Scareground was supposed to launch last year but they decided to postpone to this year. The event has announced its location for this year and the dates it will be running. The event will run for just 4 days from 28th - 31st October and will be at Hewitts Farm near Orpington. This years event will see three scare mazes, two of which have already been announced in Screamworld and Camp Slaughter. There will also be a 4th attraction at the event in an escape room (Hosted by Mythologic Escape Rooms) called The Alter. Tickets start from £25.00. Thorpe Park Fright Nights in Staines will be celebrating 20 years of frights. The event will run on the 8th, 9th and 10th October and every day between 15th – 31st October 2021. The park have now announced their attraction line up this year. Platform 15 and Creek Freak Massacre will both be returning this year with the park advertising that this will be the last year of Platform 15. They will be introducing a new maze this year called Trailers. The mazes will be extra this year with each maze being £10 with a combi maze ticket available for £27. This is on top of park tickets. Also this year the park will have The Crows of Mawkin Meadow, The Swarm Invasion, Amity High Vs Lycanthorpe: Love Bites and Creek Freaks Unchained scare zones as well as roaming characters and shows in Birthday Bash, The Crows and Legacy. Howl'O'ween at Chessington World of Adventures also looks set to return. Their website now features more information about this event event. The event will run from the 16th – 31st October 2021. t Creepy Caves: Resurgence will be returning this year as well as The Forgotten Forest. The website also states that some spooks are yet to be revealed, but give the icons that appear we imagine it will either be scare zones or the return of Rides Alive. Hever Castle in Hever, Kent is set to celebrate Halloween with Halloween Scream. They have announced that there will be two scare mazes on offer at the event in The 13th Frame and Substratum. The event will run from the 25th oct - 31st October and tickets cost £25 (Booking fees apply). For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Hever Castle website


Fort Amherst in Chatham, Kent will be returning with Halloween Horror's. This year the event will be celebrating its 38th birthday. It will run for 7 nights from 22nd - 24th Oct and 28th - 31st Oct from 7pm until 10pm. Tickets are £22 (Booking fee apply). The Howl in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire will be returning this year with the same line up they had in 2019. They will have five mazes in Red, The Attic, Squealers Yard, Toppers Twister and The Shed. The event will run for 13 nights starting from 8th October. Terror Island have confirmed that they will be reopening. Located at Blackgang Chine on the Isle of White, the maze line-up will remain the same as 2019 with The Blood Shed, Hexcavation and Amphibious in the line up. The event will run for just five nights this year, 22nd, 23rd, 29th - 31st October. Tickets start from £23.50. More details can be found on the Terror Island Website.


Funland Fright Night at Hayling Island is set to make a return this year. Returning mazes Hayling’s Haunted Hospital maze and The Screaming Hills Asylum are set to be joined by a new third attraction aimed at younger kids this year. The event will run from 5pm - 9pm on three nights, Saturday 23rd, Wednesday 27th and Saturday 30th October. Salvation-Z will be back in 2021 with The Bunker. The event will be located in Portsmouth and promises a plot hole free, real time, live action story that unfolds in the 1.5 miles of underground tunnels. Tickets and dates for the event have yet to be released but when they do we imagine they will be put on the Salvation Z website.


Quextreme Terror may not be opening this year but that isn't stopping the Quex activity centre in Birchington, Kent. This year they will be opening the Quex Adventure Fright Park. The event will have 3 attractions Maze of Mayhem, Crows Curse and Once Upon a Nightmare. The event will run for just 3 nights on 29th, 30th and 31st October. The London Bridge Experience and London Tombs is back this October with Phobophobia. The event will run on the 22nd, 23rd and 28th - 31st October. Tickets cost £25.00. For more information and to book tickets you can visit The London Bridge Experience website.


East Anglia


Primevil is located just outside Norwich at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure. This years event will have 5 attractions in Circus of Terror - Freaked Out, The Crypt - Repent Your Sins, Insanitorium - Infected, Mayhem Manor Hotel - Blackout and Route 666. The event will run for 16 nights throughout October starting on the 8th. Tickets start from £21. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Primevil website.


Nightmares in Norfolk will be returning for its second year this year after opening in 2020. Located in Kings Lynn, the event will offer 8 attractions over 6 nights (1 of which is a family friendly night). Opening on Tuesday 26th October for their family fun night and then from Wednesday 27th - Sunday 31st October for their normal night. Another new event that we believe to be in the East will be Splatterbox's The Seance. We believe this will be Southend-on-Sea. This new event appears to be by the team behind Southend's Hide and Shriek and the owners of Caddies in Southened. Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach have confirmed that Fairground Frights will be returning for 2020. The event will run for 5 nights from 28th October - 31st October. Tickets are yet to released but for more information you can visit the Fairground Frights website.


Cursed in Pitsea, Essex have announced that they wil be opening. The event will run for 10 nights throughout October from the 15th . Tickets starts from £18.00. They have also announced that The Haunting, The Institute, Safe Zone and The Sewers will all be returning from 2019. They have also announced a new attraction for 2021 in A.L.F's Emporium. Horror at Hinchingbrooke House in Huntingdon will be returning for 2021. Running from 23rd - 30th October this Cambridgeshire event will have brand new scare zones. Hatfield Park will play host to The Veil of Despair by Sneaky Experience. The event will run for four nights from 28th - 31st October. The event ticket will cover entrance to the house and grounds, The Veil of Despair as well as The Sneaky Sisters Sideshow Spectacular. Tickets cost a whopping £55.00 plus a £1.50 booking fee. Hellfire Caves Halloween Fright Nights in West Wycombe will be returning in 2021. The event will run 28th -31st October, 11am - 10:30pm. Tickets start from £9.00. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Hellfire Caves website.


The Bunker Below is a new event coming to Brentwood in Essex this October. Set at Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker this hour long experience will see you descending into the bunker to explore. The event will only be running for seven nights on 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st of October. Ticets start from £20.50. Audley End Miniature Railway will be hosting a scare event called The Disappeared. Located in Saffron Walden in Cambridgeshire, the event will run for just three nights and it lasts for and hour and fifteen minutes. Tickets cost £25.00.
