Halloween 2023 - What We Know so Far - Part 1 The South

Every year we try to bring a couple of blog posts with everything that has been announced for this year's Halloween season in the UK, and this year is no exception. Like last year, his year the blogs will be split into 4 covering the South, the Midlands, the North and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There’s a lot to get through so shall we get part 1 started. (Last Updated 01/09/2023)




South West


Scream Aloud, located in Lymington in the New Forest, are getting #BiggerLongerHarder this year as they go from having 6 attractions to 7. Returning from 2021 are Ward 13, Nocturnal, Fannies Yard, Boot Camp and House of Dolls. This year sees House of Dolls become House of Dolls: The West Wing Discovered and Ward 13 become Ward 13: The Doctors Revenge. Burial Ground looks to be not returning with the two new attractions yet to be announced. The event will run for 10 nights on the 12th - 15th, 20th - 22nd and 27th – 29th October and tickets are £26.44. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Scream Aloud website.


Fear at Avon Valley, located just outside Bristol, will be returning with the same line up as last year with Malefica, House of Clowns, X4, Vita Nova, The Core and The Exorcism. New for 2023 is Fright Feast, an immersive dining experience. The event will run for 13 nights on the 13th, 14th, 20th - 29th and the 31st October. Various ticket options are available starting at £35. Additional charges may apply for The Exorcism and Fright Feast. Salvation Z the zombie experience have confirmed that they will be returning to HMP Gloucester in its original pre covid form this October. Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein in Bath has announced the return of their After Dark event with the theme Purgatory. The event will run from the 20st - 31st October from 6pm until 11pm (Last admission is at 10pm). Tickets are £15. Boo at the Zoo at Dartmoor Zoo is set to return for two nights only on the 27th and 28th October. Ticket start from £15.00 for an adult and £13.50 for a child. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Boo at the Zoo website.



London and South East


Tulleys Shocktoberfest in Crawley will be returning with what appears to be the same line up as 2022 with Doom Town, Electrick Circus, The Island, Wastelands Peneteniary, The Village Coven of 13, The Creepy Cottage, The Chop Shop, Hellements, Horrorwood Haunted Hayride and The Cellar Imprisoned all returning. Screamworks in London have announced The Ghost Hunt, a new immersive horror experience coming this October. The event will run on selected days throughout October between the 6th and 31st. Tickets start from £45. For more information and to book tickets you can visit The Ghost Hunt website.


Terror Island have confirmed their line up for 2023. Hexcavation has been retired and will be replaced with The Summoning. 2 attractions get reimagined in Blind Alley: Snatched and The Blood Shed: Dead Meat and Amphibious: Darklight is the only returning attraction. Kent Scareground in Orpington will run from the 25th - 29th October. The event will have 4 mazs in Scream Works, Renegade, Scare bnb and Fortitude. Fort Amherst Halloween Horrors have announced that it will be celebrating its 40th years of scaring. Their website isn’t currently teasing any attractions. Howl'o'ween at Chessington World of Adventures looks set to return this year. New for 2023 is Enchanted Hollow. This joins Vile Villagers. The event will run between the 14th and 30th October. Fright Nights at Thorpe park returns this year. Returning mazes Trailers and Survival Games will be joined by a new maze in Stitches. Also for 2023, Deaths Doors and The Crows of Mawkin Meadow returns as well as a new show in Creature Campus. The event will run between the 6th and 31st October. Scream Bay at Seal Bay Resort in Selsey have updated their website revealing that The nightmare Project maze is getting a sequel as The Nightmare Project – The Reawakening. The event will run on multiple nights throughout October from the 6th. Tickets for the attraction start at £8.00. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Scream Bay website.


Funland at Hayling Island will once again play home to Funland Fright night. The event will run for just four nights on the 21st, 24th, 26th and 28th October. Tickets are £16.00. East Anglia


Primevil returns in 2023 with 5 attractions in Route 666: Forest of Fear, The Crypt: Black Death, Circus of Terror: Freaked out, Mayhem Manor: Hotel Apocalypse and the new Werehouse 51: Toxic Mutation. The event will run for 14 nights on selected dates between 13th October and 4th November. Tickets start from £35.00. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Primevil website.


Cursed in Essex have updated their website with all the information about this year’s event. There will be 5 mazes in Junkyard, Sewers and Haunting, all of which are returning as well as 2 new mazes in Clown Clink and Scarytales. The event will run for 12 nights from the 12th October. Little Fort of Horrors at Languard Fort in Felixstowe have confirmed that the event will be returning in 2023 with Carnival of Screams. The Howl have already confirmed that this year they will be adding a new attraction for 2023 to replace The Attic but are yet to confirm it. Red, Howl Valley High, Toppers Twister, Squealer’s Yard and The Shed will all be returning. The event will run for 14 nights from 6th October. Tickets start from £43.00. Horror at Hinchingbrooke House have confirmed that they will be returning in 2023. The event will run from 21st - 28th October. There will be 7 brand new and original scare zones including The Nun, Voodoo Swamp, Mrs Stinkyface and Mr Chickens Birthday party to name a few. Tickets start from £24.95 (+ £2.00 booking fee). Fairground Frights at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach have updated their website confirming the dates for this year’s event. The event will run for five nights from 26th - 30th October. It would also appear that a brand new maze will be opening at this year’s event. Tickets are £20.00. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Fairground Frights website.


Pleasurewood Hills have confirmed the dates for Pleasurewood Chills 2023. The event will run 21st – 29th October. The scare mazes are yet to be confirmed. Tickets start from £19.00. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Pleasurewood Hills website.


The Bunker Below in Brentwood have announced the dates of this years event as 14th, 15th, 20th -22nd, and 26th -30th October. Tickets start from £24.50 and the experience lasts about an hour. For more information and to book tickets when they go live you can visit The Bunker Below website.


Scaresville return in 2023 for 14 nights. They will run nightly between Wednesday 11th to Sunday 22nd October and 28th and 29th October. Scaresville is designed for groups so individual bookins are not accepted but you can share group codes between friends to be able to book into a group separately. Trinity Scares returns to Ipswich this year. The event will run from Friday 20th until Tuesday 31st October. Tickets start from £21.99. For more information and to book tickets you can visit the Trinity Scares website.


Face Your Fear by the No Name Theatre Group returns with Zombie Apocalypse, an interactive horror escape room experience for Halloween. The event will run for 6 nights from the 26th October.
